Surah al-Kahf was revealed in Makkah and contains 110 ayahs. This Surah emphasizes the transient nature of the worldly life through real-life parables and stories. These stories and parables also serve to advise, guide and teach us different lessons on life. For example:
- The story of the people of the cave addresses steadfastness and holding strong to the truth and how unseen help arrives from Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala on such occasions.
- The story of Musa alaihissalam and Khiðr highlights the wisdom of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala and the unseen realities that lie behind the apparent and corporeal world.
- The story of Dhul al-Qurnain addresses the matter of the vicegerency of the people of iman and the utter futility of the disbelievers.

The Blessed Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam exhorted his Ummah to recite Surah al-Kahf every Friday that it saves one from the fitnas of Dajjal. Imam Qurøubi rahmatullah alaih and ibn Mardawai rahmatullah alaih also narrate that whoever recites Surah al-Kahf will be blessed with a special light on the Day of Judgment. The narration of Imam Qurøubi rahmatullah alaih adds that ten days of sin are wiped out for one who recites Surah al-Kahf.
